National Park Worlds Hohe Tauern

Turning visitors into National Park Worlds time travellers.

The National Park Worlds inspire you to explore the captivating natural landscapes of the Hohe Tauern for yourself. They also allow you to journey with all your senses to places, times and regions otherwise inaccessible.

The new Gallery of Life, for instance, transports visitors to the wilderness of the Untersulzbachtal, offering stunning insights into this untouched landscape free from cultivation. Striking images spark the imagination, while river gravel and a rock slab adorned with centuries-old lichen have been brought from the wilderness to the exhibition.

In the Glacier World, a 6,000-year-old stone pine disc highlights the character of the Pasterze Glacier during the Neolithic period, while a replica of a marine dinosaur in the Peaks from the Bottom of the Sea World reveals that 150 million years ago, the Hohe Tauern region was covered by a tropical sea.

The Glacier Friendship Book showcases leading glacier experts and their research. The Water Realm highlights the region's wealth of water, including 500 mountain lakes, 800 moors and countless streams. An impressive, oversized spatial installation takes visitors on a journey following a drop of water through the Hohe Tauern National Park.
