The Steiner farmhouse on Kaprun's Kirchbichl is up to 400 years old and houses a small but fine museum which provides insights into regional prehistory, rural life, the development of tourism and the difficult construction of the power plant with the high mountain reservoirs. The photographs by the photographic pioneer Josef Rauch offer fascinating insights into the hardships of rural life at the beginning of the 20th century.
From the End of March to the End of October, bread is traditionally baked in the historic wood-burning oven every Friday from 10:00 am. In addition, a weekly market is held in front of the museum on Fridays from June to October.
