Local history and Ski museum

You can experience the history of Saalbach-Hinterglemm first-hand!

The steep path from the poor mountain village, the forgotten valley of the first centuries, the first mountain farmers from 1222 until the construction of the church in 1410, the first market from 1489 until the construction of the entire infrastructure of today’s tourist resort. The old national road from Maishofen to Saalbach to the now perfect traffic regulation of the entire municipality. And the first ski experiences from 1898 to the ultra modern ski resort that we have today.

The local history museum Saalbach Hinterglemm has a farmhouse which hosts cultural events. It also contains a farm kitchen, exhibition rooms, and historical but also agricultural exhibits and a large photo gallery under the topic “Saalbach-Hinterglemm-its time”, which completes the cultural attractions of the museum.

Skimuseum

The Steinachhäusl, was a residential house of farmers’ Mitterrammer No.14 from 1698, and from 1780 was the second residence of Steinach In 1994, it was bought by the municipality and relocated and re-built next to the local history museum.
