SH 04 Bergstadl - Route

Technically easy route with opportunities to stop for refreshments.

The Bergstadl route first leads downstream and turns left at the state road towards the Zwölferkogelbahn.

The asphalt road transitions into a compact gravel road that follows the Schwarzachergraben. After 1.5 km, there is a left turn. Here the forest road winds in switchbacks through forests and lush meadows up to the Westgipfelbahn middle station. Immediately afterward, the Bergstadl mountain inn offers a place to stop for refreshments. The forest road then continues downhill at a moderate slope.

Alternatively, you can take the moderately difficult Buchegg Trail, which merges back into the Bergstadl route near the Gerstreitalm. After a descent through meadow areas, you reach an asphalt road again that leads back to the starting point.
