Salt Mine Hallein

In the footsteps of "White Gold" to the roots of Salzburg.

Salt used to be described as “ White Gold”: And the deposits created millions of years ago in the Dürnberg near Hallein have provided the region Salzburg with a “treasure chamber”. More than 2500 years ago the Celts mined this precious mountain resource, evident from the traces they left behind.
