Vertical Extreme & Triple X

The Vertical Extreme on August 22nd, 2021 is an uphill run with the finish at the Schattberg Ostgipfel. You overcome 1,000 meters in altitude over 3.3 km. More extreme? The Triple X is 3x the Vertical Extreme!

The Vertical Extreme as part of the Saalbach Trail & Skyrace is an uphill sprint that starts at the Schattberg X-Press valley station and ends at the Schattberg east summit, at 2,018 m above sea level.

The trail runners here in Saalbach overcome over 1,000 meters of altitude at a distance of just 3.3 km. This is possible by choosing a route directly on the ski slope, the legendary Schattberg Nord No. 1.

If you like it even more extreme, the Triple X is recommended. Here the trail runner “enjoys” the Vertical Extreme route three times. You can relax between the uphill runs by gondola when you float back down into the valley with the Schattberg X-Press. The runner then has to start again within a specified timeframe, because the stopwatch only triggers at the finish line.
